Job Duties
As an apprentice sheet metal worker, you will work under the supervision of experienced tradespeople and perform the following duties:
- Assist in fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products used in ventilation, heating, and air conditioning systems.
- Operate and maintain sheet metal machines and tools to cut, bend, punch, and shape aluminum and other materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Help with layout, fitting, and joining of sheet metal components.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and union standards.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Requirements
- Completion of high school or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with sheet metal machines related to ventilation, HVAC, or aluminum products.
- Registration as a sheet metal apprentice is preferred; however, the employer is open to sponsoring unregistered applicants who demonstrate relevant experience.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a unionized environment.
- Physically capable of handling materials, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
