Specific Skills
· Operate heavy equipment to excavate, dig, move, load, spread and grade earth, soil, rock, gravel, sand and other construction materials at various job sites.
· Operate excavators and related equipment to excavate foundations, drainage systems, utility lines, and other areas according to project plans, site conditions and required depths and grades.
· Operate equipment to lay, spread, level and compact soil, gravel, aggregate and other construction materials during site preparation, and other construction activities.
· Operate shovels and excavators to remove and load materials from construction pits, excavation areas, trenches and other designated work areas.
· Operate equipment with precision around existing structures, underground utilities, foundations, drainage systems and other site features while following established safety procedures.
· Perform pre-operational inspections of excavators and other heavy equipment to check hydraulic systems, attachments, tracks, tires, fluid levels, controls, brakes and other components for safe and proper operation.
· Clean, lubricate, grease and refuel equipment as required and report mechanical problems, damage or maintenance requirements to the supervisor or designated personnel.
· Attach, remove and operate various excavator attachments, such as buckets, hydraulic hammers, grapples and other implements, depending on the requirements of the job.
· Operate bobcats, skid steers and other equipment to clear brush, small trees, rocks, debris and other obstructions from construction sites.
· Assist with site preparation by clearing and levelling work areas, removing unsuitable materials and preparing surfaces for foundations, utilities, roads and other construction activities.
· Follow site plans, grade stakes, markings and instructions from supervisors or other site personnel to ensure excavation and grading work is completed to the required specifications.
· Maintain awareness of workers, vehicles, underground services and other hazards around operating equipment and follow applicable workplace and equipment safety procedures.

Security and safety guidelines should always be kept in mind and must be strictly followed at all the times. Hard hat, safety glasses and steel toe-cap shoes.
