Specific Skills
- Operate and drive long-haul trucks individually or as part of a team to transport goods and materials across interprovincial and cross-border routes, often covering extended distances under varying weather and road conditions. You are responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and efficient delivery of shipments in compliance with company schedules and client expectations.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate trip logistics by reviewing route maps, fuel stops, rest breaks, and border crossings, while ensuring full compliance with applicable provincial, federal transportation regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers, checking mechanical systems such as brakes, lights, tires, suspension, and fluid levels. Drivers are required to identify and report defects immediately and coordinate necessary repairs to ensure equipment remains roadworthy at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, and other drivers through cell phones and GPS tracking systems to update delivery progress, relay road conditions, report delays, and coordinate load assignments. Maintaining consistent communication supports operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee all aspects of vehicle operation, including preventive maintenance, equipment condition, and documentation of inspections, and safety policies. Drivers are expected to observe loading/unloading when required and ensure the safety and security of cargo during transit and delivery.
- Perform minor roadside repairs or mechanical adjustments when necessary and if needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including log books, distance travelled, border crossings, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports.
- Adhere strictly to all applicable laws. This includes maintaining professional driving standards, and fatigue management.
- Represent Trillium Transportation professionally when interacting with clients, border officials, and the public, ensuring high standards of service quality, reliability, and company reputation are upheld throughout every delivery cycle.
License Requirement and Additional Skills
Class 1 license or any other equivalent with air-brake endorsement, A good knowledge of communication equipment would be an asset, Ability to travel for extended periods
