As a Ruminant Nutrition and Business Consultant (Animal Nutritionist), you will work closely with dairy and beef producers, providing top-tier nutritional sales and consulting services. Your goal is to help farmers achieve both their financial and operational objectives through innovative feeding strategies, advanced ration formulations, and hands-on support.
Working with us:
This role will require travel throughout Southern Alberta to visit customers on-farm up to 5 days a week. You will work primarily from your home office in Lethbridge and will be required to attend team meetings and other events at our office locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Growth & Client Support
Develop and grow a strong client base by identifying new business opportunities.
Provide expert nutritional consulting and formulation support using NDS (Nutrition Dynamic Systems) software.
Offer innovative feeding strategies to optimize production and profitability.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure outstanding customer support.
Stay up-to-date on new products, ingredients, and research to offer cutting-edge solutions.
Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, ensuring their long-term success.
Regularly visit farms to assess challenges and opportunities.
Offer tailored recommendations for feeding systems, production improvements, and herd management.
Educate clients on the latest nutritional technologies and best practices.
Product & Service Development
Contribute insights for new product formulations and improvements.
Stay informed on emerging trends, scientific research, and industry advancements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative feeding programs.
Marketing & Community Engagement
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and producer meetings.
Support marketing initiatives by contributing to trade publications and digital content.
Engage with the local agricultural community to enhance brand presence.
Corporate & Professional Development
Maintain accurate records and reports.
Participate in company meetings, training sessions, and industry events.
Attend at least one major industry conference annually to expand your knowledge and network.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture or Business
2+ years of experience
A true passion for agriculture and the dairy/beef industry
Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Willingness to learn and ability to quickly understand nutritional and sales knowledge
A valid Canadian Driver's License is required
Able to travel within your territory 5 days a week

40 hours a week Minimum
$96,700 annually plus commission of 15% on Gross Margin less Expenses and Wage
