Job Summary
Formax Engineering Inc. is seeking a qualified CAD Technician to support engineering and design activities by preparing accurate technical drawings and documentation. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, assisting engineers by translating concepts, sketches, and technical data into detailed drawings and digital models that support engineering and construction projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare engineering drawings, plans, diagrams, and layouts based on sketches, specifications, calculations, and instructions provided by professional engineers
- Create building information models (BIM) using Revit to provide digital representations of structural and electromechanical aspects of building projects
- Operate computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software and drafting workstations
- Produce detailed drawings of structural components, including foundation plans, steel layouts, and building frames
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets for municipal building permits and construction tenders
- Check and verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with provided specifications, codes, and standards
- Maintain organized digital drawing files, version control, and technical documentation in accordance with company procedures
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and final documentation upon project completion
- Collaborate with engineers and project team members to clarify drafting requirements and resolve technical drafting issues
Employment Requirements
Education: Completion of a college diploma or technical training program in drafting, CAD technology, engineering design, or a related field
Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience
