Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the kitchen operations
Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
Supervise and coordinate work activities and schedules of kitchen staff engaged in food preparation
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, which include sauces, soups, vegetables, meats, poultry and/or fishes
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerance
May plan menus and determine food portions
Place purchase orders and/or requisitions for procuring necessary, food ingredients, supplies, etc.
Maintain inventory and records of food ingredients, supplies and equipment
Estimate expected food consumption and requirement
Check the quality of raw and cooked products
Check the quantity and quality of received products
Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
Inspect kitchen and food service areas
Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
Train kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
Academic, Training and Experience Qualifications
Completion of secondary school
2-3 year of previous experience in commercial cooking industry required
Work conditions and physical capabilities
Fast paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Combination of sitting, standing and walking, Standing for extended period of time, Attention to details, bending, couching, kneeling
Wage
Salary: $17.00 per hour for 30 hours a week at 52 weeks a year
