Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Create new recipes
Check the quality of raw and cooked products
Check the quantity and quality of received products
Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation
Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods such as sauces, soups, salads, vegetables and meat, poultry and fish dishes
Determine how food should be presented, and create decorative food displays
Instruct cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
May recruit and hire staff
Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
Create high quality sushi including cooking rice, rolling sushi, and cutting rolls
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
Academic, Training and Experience Qualifications
Completion of secondary school is usually required
Several years of experience in commercial food preparation
Work conditions and physical capabilities
Fast paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Combination of sitting, standing and walking, Standing for extended period of time, Attention to details, bending, couching, kneeling
Wage
Salary: $30.00 per hour for 30~40 hours a week at 52 weeks a year
