Note: As a construction company, the employee may be required to work at various job sites
across the Halifax Regional Municipality and surrounding areas in Nova Scotia, depending on
active project assignments. Transportation to and from job sites must be arranged by the
employee.
• Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, fit, and install gypsum wallboard (drywall) sheets to wood or metal studs, ceilings,
and partitions
- Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
- Fill joints, nail indentations, and holes with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
- Tape over joints and embed tape in compound
- Apply successive coats of compound, smooth surfaces, and sand seams to prepare walls and
ceilings for paint or wallpaper
- Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and
coffered ceilings
- Install steel studs and metal stud framing systems where required
- Inspect finished work for quality and adherence to project specifications
- Operate hand tools and power tools required for drywall finishing
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work site in accordance with occupational health and safety
standards
• Education: Secondary High School
• Experience: 1 year of related experience
• Language: English
• Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
• Area of specialization: Construction
• Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots; Safety glasses/goggles; Gloves; Ear plugs
• Work Site environment: Outdoors; Dusty; Sound and noise
