Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry
Eligibility
Fellowship: Eligible for or holds Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
Licensure: Eligible for or currently registered (limited or general) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Psychiatry or equivalent (Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or recognized credentials from the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, or similar jurisdictions).

Responsibilities
Tasks
Diagnose psychiatric disorders
Prescribe medication and treatment
Treat psychiatric disorders
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulate diagnoses per current standards.
Provide consultation and/or ongoing care for a broad range of mental health conditions, including mood, anxiety, psychotic, trauma-related, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
Deliver supportive therapy, psychoeducation, care coordination, and collaborate with primary care physicians, mental health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation and communication of clinical decision-making and management plans.
At their discretion, the psychiatrist may choose to provide consultation or care for patients receiving Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and/or ketamine treatments, subject to appropriate training and competency.
