Salary: this is a unionized position. Wage is paid as per the union agreement. The hourly rate for this position starts at $24.00 and at the end of probation to 1-year of Active service. From 1-year of Active service to 2-years $24.60. From 2-years of active service $25.21 hourly.
Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time. [A full-time employee is an employee who is regularly scheduled sixty (60) hours or more bi-weekly. Normal hours of work for full-time employees are eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week, inclusive of the meal period. Employees will agree and understand that the Residence is a twenty-four (24) hour per day, seven (7) days per week continuous operation and that services must be maintained].
Candidates must be available to work any assigned shift including Early morning, Evening, Shift, Morning, Night, Day, Weekend, and holidays.
There shall be no shift premium, whether for afternoon shifts, night shifts, weekend shifts, or otherwise, in respect of employees who work their regularly scheduled shift or who exchange shifts with another employee and so work a shift other than their regularly scheduled shift. Where management requires an employee who is regularly scheduled to work morning or afternoon shifts, to instead work a night shift, that employee shall be paid a cover shift premium of fifteen ($0.15) cents per hour for time worked on that cover shift. This premium does not apply to employees who are rescheduled to regularly work night shifts.
Employees will be paid overtime for hours worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day or eighty (80) hours per pay period. The Company may schedule, or on an urgent basis require, employees to work twelve (12) hour shifts in which case overtime would not apply until they have exceeded twelve (12) hours per day or eighty-eight (88) hours per pay period. Overtime shall be computed as 1.5 times the employee's straight time rate of pay.
Full-time employees will accrue vacation pay to their vacation bank as it is earned each pay period at the rate of 4%.

Education:
· Completion of a vocational, college, or other approved program OR apprenticeship training of two or more years OR supervisory occupation is required.
· Education and/or experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
Experience:
· Completion of a minimum of two-year practical nursing diploma or equivalent, including the required supervised practicum period will substitute the experience requirement.
· Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
Credentials:
· Current Medication Administration Certificate, or equivalent
· Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
· Registered with a regulatory body
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Work setting: Nursing home/Home for the aged.
Responsibilities and Tasks
· Overseas and assists residents with daily routines and functions such as bathing, dressing, undressing and eat meals as required.
· Review 24-72 hour report at beginning of shift
· Follows and processes physician orders.
· Administers medications and treatments within the limitations set by the College of Nurses.
· Observes and monitors conditions of residents and reports changes in physical or mental conditions to the Registered Nurse.
· Assures observance with required techniques in nursing care.
· Participates in the development and modification of resident’s plan of care.
· Assists in implementing/evaluating the effectiveness of the plans.
· Monitors residents’ health and notes any changes in condition appropriately.
· Assists in the maintenance of resident records, including documentation in compliance with established standards and legislative requirements.
· Cooperates in the provision of life enrichment programs for the residents.
· Participates in restorative care program.
· Notifies the Registered Nurse of incidents or accidents and completes appropriate forms.
· Assists in training and directing non-registered nursing staff in providing care to residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
· Collaborates with other members of the health care team and Maintains a cooperative relationship with other staff members.
· Participates in meetings and committees.
· Assumes responsibility for the operation of the unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse as required.
· Participates in the quality assurance process and on-going activities and comply with the quality assurance model
· Contributes to the performance assessment of non-registered nursing staff
· Identifies and corrects inappropriate work practices which may affect the health and safety of co-workers.
· Follows all health and safety and safe work practices and guidelines.
· Displays an attitude that is focused on working safely and ensuring that the work environment is safe and healthy.
· Participates in fire safety activities and knows the facility fire and disaster plan.
· Reports any actual or potential hazard to the immediate supervisor.
· Uses or wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required.
· Be involved in infection prevention and control in the home including the utilization of Infection Control Surveillance Program on Point Click Care.
· Promptly reports personal injury to supervisor and seeks first aid as needed.
· Does not use or operate any equipment in a way that would endanger any worker, resident or visitor.
· Complies with WSIB company policies and procedures.
· Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
· Reports any incident immediately to supervisor.
· Cooperates with the Return-to-Work program as identified by WSIB legislation as required.
· Complies with all computer confidentiality requirements.
· Reports function inconsistencies immediately to supervisor.
· Attends all mandatory education as provided by the company and in-service education to maintain professional competency.
· Maintains up to date reflective practice requirements.
· Pursues on-going learning.
· Functions under direct supervision.
· Assists providing direction and leadership to subordinates
· Acts on direction of physicians’ orders and prescribed standards.
· Performs other related functions as directed by supervisor.
