Position: Pastry Chef
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours/week)
Work Setting: Central food commissary, café, fast-food environment (multi-location)
Basic Requirements
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: 3–5 years of relevant culinary/pastry experience
Language: English
Certifications: Food Safety Certificate
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff
Develop and create new recipes, with a focus on bakery goods, desserts, and specialty items
Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff (1–2 people)
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods (including dim sum, vegetarian, gluten-free, and Mediterranean cuisine)
Requisition food and kitchen supplies, and maintain inventory
Plan menus and ensure all food meets quality and safety standards
Provide guidance to help customers/patients develop healthy eating habits and wellness-focused approaches
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation protocols
