Computek College is a regulated private career college (Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005) with three campuses — Toronto, Markham, and Ajax — offering diploma, certificate, and postgraduate programs in healthcare, business, and technology, delivered in-person, online, and hybrid. Our IT footprint is realistically cloud-hosted LMS/SIS/email, workstations and labs per campus, staff/student Wi-Fi, and site-to-site connectivity between three locations — not an on-premise data center or mainframe environment.

Responsibilities and Tasks
· Maintain, troubleshoot, and administer local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) connectivity between the Ajax, Toronto, and Markham campuses, including computer workstations, Internet connections, and peripheral equipment.
· Install, configure, and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points at each campus location.
· Create and manage network segments/VLANs to separate administrative, instructional, and student network traffic.
· Set up and maintain secure site-to-site VPN connectivity between the college’s three campuses and its cloud-hosted services (e.g., Student Information System, LMS, e-mail).
· Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, operating system software, and software applications used in campus offices and computer labs.
· Coordinate access and use of the college’s computer network, including managing user accounts and permissions for staff, faculty, and students (e.g., Microsoft 365/Azure AD), and maintaining role-based access to the LMS, Student Information System (SIS), and shared file storage.
· Support enforcement of password policies and multi-factor authentication (MFA) for staff and student accounts in line with college IT policy.
· Provide day-to-day technical support and problem-solving assistance to staff, faculty, and students across all three campuses.
· Perform routine network start-up/shutdown procedures and maintain basic equipment and change records.
· Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations for the college’s cloud-hosted LMS, SIS, and shared file storage, including periodically testing restore procedures.
· Conduct routine security checks on campus workstations, lab computers, and network equipment, including installing security patches and updates and running basic vulnerability/configuration reviews using vendor-supplied or licensed security tools.
· Harden campus systems by disabling unnecessary services, closing unused ports, and applying secure baseline configurations to workstations and lab computers.
· Support protection of student and staff data through encryption, secure storage practices, and adherence to the college’s data-handling procedures.
· Monitor alerts from firewalls, antivirus/endpoint protection software, and e-mail security tools, and escalate suspicious activity to the IT manager or an external managed security provider as needed.
· Maintain records of IT incidents and documentation of network layout, configurations, and equipment inventory across the three campuses.
· Support the college’s compliance with privacy requirements for student records under applicable Ontario private-career-college regulations and assist with information requests during compliance reviews or audits.
· Maintain the college’s website and any internally used web applications, including basic troubleshooting and uptime monitoring, liaising with external hosting providers as needed.
· Monitor network traffic for performance and security issues and adjust configurations to keep systems running smoothly for classroom and administrative use.
· Monitor and help manage the college’s e-mail systems, including spam filtering and phishing protection, and investigate reports of suspicious or compromised accounts.
· Respond to requests for help from students, staff, and faculty regarding the college website, student portal, or online learning tools.
· Secure student and staff Wi-Fi networks across all three campuses with appropriate authentication and network segmentation.
· Maintain computer labs used for the college’s technology, business, and healthcare programs (restricted software installs, controlled access, and periodic re-imaging as needed).
· Install and update software on classroom, lab, and administrative computers.
· Assist college administration in evaluating and recommending IT hardware, software, and security tools appropriate to the college’s size and budget.
· Support IT-related aspects of college initiatives, such as new campus or classroom setup, LMS updates, or the launch of new programs.
· Plan and carry out network and system changes with minimal disruption to classes and administrative operations, scheduling work outside class hours where possible.
· Provide guidance to junior IT support or work-study staff, where applicable.
· Any other duties as per business requirements.
