Responsibilities
Greet clients and provide outstanding on-site customer service
Analyze hair and scalp condition and recommend appropriate treatments
Cut and trim hair according to client instructions and preferences
Suggest hairstyles that suit clients’ features and lifestyle
Shampoo, condition and treat hair and scalp
Provide hair treatments including waving, straightening, relaxing and tinting
Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair
Style hair: cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, blow-dry and finish looks
Shave and trim beards and moustaches (where required)
Provide scalp conditioning massages
Book and manage appointments, perform receptionist duties.
Maintain and order supplies as needed
Supervise 1–2 hairstylists or support staff when required
Required certifications:
Hairstylist Licence from Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia
Hairstylist Trade Certification
Hairstylist Licence
Barber licence is an asset
Skills & Specializations
Hair styling techniques: blow drying, braiding, iron waving/curling, permanents, extensions, twisting, locking, relaxing, spiking, pin curls, roller setting
Colour techniques: bleach, dyes/tints, streaking/highlights

Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
Flexible, good judgement, cooperative team player
