Caregiver for a person with disabilities
The Khan Family in Surrey, BC, is looking for a compassionate and reliable caregiver to provide personal care and support to a young individual with disabilities. This is a permanent, full-time position with working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the child’s safety, comfort, and well-being at all times.
Job Duties
Provide personal care and companionship to the client, including support with daily routines and emotional well-being
Assist with ambulation, transfers, and mobility, including use of mobility aids as needed.
Provide bedside and personal care, including bathing, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing
Plan and prepare meals according to any special dietary requirements, and feed or assist with feeding as needed
Administer or assist with the administration of medication under the parent’s supervision.
Perform light housekeeping duties directly related to the client's care, including laundry, making beds, and tidying the client's living space
Respond promptly to the client's needs at any time during the work schedule.
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment
Requirements
Secondary school education required
Experience with handling disabled children would be an asset
Completion of a training program in caregiving, personal support work, or care of persons with disabilities is an asset
Current First Aid/CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain)
Physically able to assist with transfers and mobility support
Compassionate, patient, reliable, and able to work independently
