Position Summary
Abbeywrap Packaging Ltd. is seeking a skilled Welder to fabricate, assemble and repair metal components used in the company's manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will perform welding and metal fabrication work in accordance with production requirements, quality standards and workplace safety procedures. As the manufacturing facility operates on a continuous production schedule, flexibility to work different shifts is required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols and work orders to determine welding and fabrication requirements.
Set up and operate manual, semi-automatic or automated welding equipment to fabricate and repair metal parts and components used in the company's manufacturing operations.
Perform MIG, TIG or other welding processes, as required, ensuring welds meet company quality standards and applicable specifications.
Operate flame-cutting, grinding, drilling, bending and other metalworking equipment to prepare, shape and fit metal materials for fabrication.
Fabricate, fit, assemble and repair metal frames, brackets, supports, guards and other steel components used in production equipment and facility operations.
Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to verify accuracy, strength and quality, and perform corrective welding where required.
Repair worn or damaged metal components and assist with the replacement or modification of fabricated parts used in production equipment.
Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of welding equipment, tools and work areas to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
Follow established workplace safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while performing welding and fabrication work.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area and coordinate with production and maintenance personnel to complete fabrication work in accordance with operational requirements.
Education and Experience
Other trades certificate or diploma in welding, metal fabrication or a related trade, or equivalent experience.
Previous experience as a welder or in an industrial manufacturing environment is an asset.
Experience operating manual, semi-automatic or automated welding equipment is preferred.
