Position Summary
Abbeywrap Packaging Ltd. is seeking a skilled Printing Press Operator to set up, operate, monitor and maintain flexographic printing press equipment used in the production of printed lumber wrap and other custom packaging products. The successful candidate will work closely with production and quality control teams to ensure printed products consistently meet customer specifications, production schedules and company quality standards. As the manufacturing facility operates on a continuous production schedule, flexibility to work different shifts is required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Review production orders and printing specifications to determine production requirements, colour sequence, quantities and job setup requirements.
Prepare and set up flexographic printing presses by mounting printing plates or cylinders, loading substrates, preparing inks and coatings, and adjusting machine settings before production begins.
Operate flexographic printing press equipment to produce printed lumber wrap, woven packaging materials and other custom products in accordance with customer specifications and quality standards.
Monitor press performance throughout production and adjust ink flow, colour, pressure, registration, speed and alignment to maintain print quality and production efficiency.
Inspect printed materials during production to verify colour consistency, print registration, clarity and overall product quality, making necessary adjustments where required.
Troubleshoot minor equipment, ink or alignment issues and perform routine cleaning, lubrication and preventive maintenance to minimize production downtime.
Remove, clean and store printing plates, cylinders and related equipment following completion of each production run.
Record production information, machine performance and completed job details in accordance with company procedures and quality control requirements.
Coordinate with production personnel to ensure manufacturing schedules, productivity targets and customer delivery timelines are achieved.
Follow established workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment while handling machinery, inks, coatings and other production materials.
Education and Experience
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
Previous experience operating flexographic, offset or other commercial printing press equipment is preferred.
Experience operating industrial manufacturing equipment in a production environment will also be considered an asset.
