** Work is performed at residential construction and renovation sites within the Halifax Regional Municipality and communities across Nova Scotia, as assigned by project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Review project drawings and specifications for custom home builds, additions, and renovation projects to plan drywall layout and confirm material needs
• Measure and mark drywall sheets, and cut panels to fit around door and window openings, electrical boxes, and fixtures
• Lift, position, and fasten drywall panels to wood framing and to the interior faces of structural insulated panel (SIP) walls and ceilings using screws, nails, or adhesive
• Install corner beads and edge trims to protect and square off corners and openings
• Fill joints, screw indentations, holes, and surface defects with joint compound, and embed tape along seams
• Apply successive finishing coats, then sand and smooth surfaces to a paint-ready finish for turnkey handover
• Cut out and patch damaged sections of existing walls and ceilings on renovation and addition projects, blending repairs into surrounding surfaces
• Coordinate with framing, electrical, and painting trades on site to sequence drywall installation within the overall build schedule
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow company safety procedures and Nova Scotia occupational health and safety requirements on all job sites
Education
Secondary High School
Experience
1 to 2 years of related construction experience
