Tasks
Calculate heating and cooling loads
Design duct systems
Manufacture and assemble different prefabricated fibreglass elements
Manufacture and assemble in the factory the ducts for hot air heating, air conditioning and ventilation
Manufacture and assemble water evacuation systems for buildings
Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction
Measure and mark sheet metal according to template
Prepare tenders and quotations
Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
Operate laser cutters
Utilize computerized quantity take-off
Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
Schedule work
Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification
Operate plasma cutters
Develop computerized pattern and layout
Instruct apprentices
Supervise other workers
Cut materials using power tools or by hand
Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment
Estimate costs and materials
Operate CADD and other computer software systems
Fit and join sheet metal parts
Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
