Hours: 40 hours per week
Wage: $24.50 per hour
Language of Work: English; ability to speak in Punjabi would be considered an asset.
Job Summary
The Harjit Kaur Family, a private household in Aldergrove, BC, is seeking a reliable and compassionate Home Support Worker to provide care, companionship and support to 2 elderly family members. The successful candidate will assist with daily living activities, personal care and light household duties, helping to maintain the comfort, dignity and well-being of the individual in their care.
Main Duties
Provide care and companionship during the day, when the family is not home.
Administer assistance with ambulation, when needed.
Plan, prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs and restrictions
Perform light housekeeping duties related to the care of the individuals (laundry, tidying living and care areas)
Accompany the individual to medical appointments, errands and outings as required
Monitor and report changes in the individual's health, mood or behaviour to family members
Assist with mobility, transfers and use of mobility aids as needed
Administer or remind the individual to take prescribed medication, as directed
Provide emotional support and engage the individual in social and recreational activities
Maintain a safe, clean and comfortable home care environment
Employment Requirements
Completion of secondary school is required
Completion of a college or other program in home support, health care aide, personal support work, or a related field is required, or a minimum of 6 months of experience caring for the elderly, in required.
Compassionate, patient and reliable, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Physically able to assist with lifting, transferring and mobility support
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
