Requirements
Language: English
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Experience is an asset.
On-site work: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Work environment and physical demands
Work in commercial and residential construction settings.
Work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding and elevated work platforms, with required safety measures.
Work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold and rain.
Work in noisy and dusty environments.
Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying construction materials.
Stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, crouching, kneeling and reaching.
Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Work around construction equipment, tools, sharp materials and uneven surfaces.
Meet project deadlines and coordinate work with other trades.
Follow site safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
Duties and responsibilities
Review blueprints, drawings and sketches to identify project requirements.
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and connect wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other construction materials.
Construct foundations, install floor beams and subfloors, and assemble wall and roof systems.
Fit and install doors, windows, stairs, mouldings and related hardware.
Plan work schedules and coordinate activities at construction sites.
Supervise and guide one to two workers.
Calculate the quantities and costs of materials required for projects.
Repair, maintain and renovate residential buildings and wooden structures in commercial, industrial and institutional settings.
