Position Title: CUSTOMS CONSULTANT

We are looking for 01 Customs Consultant (NOC 13200) to work with our Customs Consulting Services Team from our Fort Erie, Ontario office to conduct customs compliance duties on a range of imported commodities and CBSA Programs.
Job Duties:
-Provide guidance to clients and internal staff, both verbal and written, on import requirement(s) as required including:
-HS Tariff Classification
-GST/HST commodity status
-Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) requirements (where applicable)
-Preferential trade status as covered by any of Canada’s free trade agreements
-Conduct client product reviews to ensure import compliance with customs regulations
-ITMR4 Commodity Database Management which includes answering exceptions and researching information for HS Tariff Classification, CUSMA, SIMA, etc.
-Review and update CUSMA Status into ITMR4 commodity database
-Maintain and update Part Notes within commodity database for research completed
-Prepare and submit Binding Ruling requests to CBSA
-Preparation of B2 Adjustment Requests
-Preparation of Duty Drawback claims and corresponding Import/Export Analyses
-Troubleshooting live rejects on customs entries, for Customs Operations Team
-Be able to work both independently and in a team environment on projects
-Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PDF applications
-Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
-Release complete Final Accounting (CADEX) for transactions on QC Technical hold as determined by client/SOP parameters
-Prioritize and complete work according to client demands, customs requirements and Customs Consulting Team operating procedures
-Participate fully with other team members in the day-to-day operation of the team, including setting priorities, organizing and scheduling work and problem solving
-Laisse with Customs Operations Team to ensure that accurate product information is added to client database
-Laisse with Client Relations Team to setup client meetings/calls to discuss import compliance requirements
-Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional services based on client needs
-Ensure relevant service fees are invoiced, according to the client fee schedule
Requirements
-Well-versed in B2 and Duty Drawback documentary requirements
-Experience with submitting B2 Adjustments and Duty Drawback claims to CBSA
-Understand the regulations and the government parties involved on the importation of various commodities from meat products to machinery into Canada.
-Have a clear understanding of the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) submitted at time of release request to CBSA in order to ensure import information and documents required to meet federal government import regulations are compliant as requested
-Experience with GST/HST status as they pertain to Zero-Rated and Exempt goods
-Understanding of various Free Trade certification requirements, e.g. CUKTCA, CETA, CPTPP, CEFTA
-Experience with Rules of Origin of Canada’s various Free Trade Agreements in order to assist clients in determining import country of origin and duty status
-Experience with Descartes ITMR4 program
-In-depth knowledge of Canadian Customs Tariff and assigning HS tariff classifications for imported commodities
-Experience with World Customs Organization Harmonized Description and Coding System Explanatory notes and Compendium of Classification Opinions

-Ability to handle large volumes and meet tight deadlines
-Attention to detail; organization, completeness and accuracy
-Good analytical skills with problem-solving ability
-Ability to make decisions and recommendations within authorized limitations
-Excellent time management skills
-Knowledge of Word, Excel and PDF software applications.
Certification
- Successful completion of the Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) examination or taking the CCS course is an important asset
Education:
-Completion of post-secondary education in the field of logistics, customs and/or freight forwarding
Work Experience: At least 2 years of professional work experience, in which at least 18 months in a similar role in a Canadian customs brokerage.
Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Start date: As soon as possible

Wage: $24.00/hour
